Intro

Cool, creamy, and full of Middle Eastern flair, this Sumac Yogurt Dip is a refreshing companion to grilled meats, warm pita, or fresh vegetables. The tart citrus notes of sumac, combined with tangy Greek yogurt, a splash of lemon juice, and aromatic mint, create a perfectly balanced dip that’s as versatile as it is delicious. It’s quick to make, requires no cooking, and elevates any mezze spread or snack plate in an instant.

This dip is especially great served alongside spiced dishes, where its coolness balances the heat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup full-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp ground sumac
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh mint (or more to taste)
  • Salt, to taste

Optional Garnish: Drizzle of olive oil, extra pinch of sumac, or fresh mint leaves

Instructions

Combine the Ingredients

In a medium mixing bowl, add the Greek yogurt, sumac, lemon juice, chopped mint, and salt. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated and the dip has a smooth, creamy texture.

Tip: Adjust lemon juice and salt to your taste—start small and build up. The tanginess should be noticeable but not overpowering.

  1. Chill for Best Flavor

Cover the dip and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld and the sumac to fully infuse the yogurt.

  1. Serve

Stir again before serving. Transfer to a small bowl and garnish with an optional drizzle of olive oil, a pinch of sumac, or mint leaves for a vibrant presentation.
