Biryani-Spiced Fish Cakes

Intro

Flaky white fish gets mixed with herbs, potato, and Biryani spice for a crisp-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside patty that pairs beautifully with yogurt or slaw.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb cooked white fish (cod or haddock), flaked
  • 1 cup mashed potato
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1 1/2 tsp Biryani spice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil, for frying

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine all ingredients and mix until uniform.
  • Shape into patties and chill 10 minutes.
  • Pan-fry in oil over medium heat, 3–4 minutes per side, until golden.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with garlic yogurt sauce or inside pita bread.
