Shawarma-Spiced Savory Waffles with Labneh
Turn brunch on its head with these shawarma-spiced waffles. Crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, and full of warm spice, they pair beautifully with tangy labneh or poached eggs. Great for adventurous palates and fusion food fans.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons shawarma meat spice
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Labneh, for serving
- Optional toppings: poached egg, chili oil, fresh herbs
Instructions
- Make the Batter
In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and shawarma spice. In another bowl, whisk egg, milk, and olive oil. Combine wet and dry.
- Cook the Waffles
Preheat waffle iron. Pour in batter and cook according to manufacturer’s directions until golden brown.
- Serve
Top with labneh, herbs, or poached eggs. Add a drizzle of chili oil for heat.
